I think that this is so true because many people say that money is the key to all evil. Meaning that money can either "make you or break you".Whether you are filthy rich or poor.

This meaning is completely opposite from its usual connotation. Usually, white means pure and good, but not here.

The poor would like nothing more than to be rich, and the rich would like nother more than to be richer. I think white represents the discarded innocence and purity in everyone's race to become 'filthy rich'.
