Color Green - Nick and Karl

The color green represents life, renewal, and growth. The color is also implied at a time of peace (calm) situation.

The two quotes that we found were at the end of the book where Nick is sitting on the green roller and commenting on Gatsby’s great accomplishments. Quote 1: “Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us” (Fitzgerald, 180). Quote 2: “…I became aware of the old island here that flowed once for Dutch sailors eyes- a fresh, green breast of the new world.”(Fitzgerald,180).These quotes represent peace during the time and show the reader a transition.

It's a good interpretation, but I also believe that the color green symbolized new opportunity in life, a chance to make and form your own destiny.

Green does represent everything that Nick and Karl said but it does also represent money and that is a major idea in this book.

All that stuff is right in my opinion, but Toni's right, you forgot money. You probably could have elaborated more on the first quote because it sounds like he's comparing Gatsby's dream to a neverending struggle to reach something unreachable.

I think green is a very positive color. I think it does stand for some type of growth. "The grass is greener on the other side".
